Going back to a “New normal” world after Covid-19
Do’s and Don’ts when re-opening your business to the public
The business world probably will
never be the same after everything that we have experienced in the last few
months. The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we all work. These changes
will extend to how people interact with each other and how we operate in
workplaces. In a post COVID-19 world, businesses will not only worry about high
quality services and products, but also about how to keep the environments safe
and clean for their customers.
At A&B, our customer’s safety and
health means everything during this changing times. We are aware that things
may never be the same for a while, but for the time being it is essential to
figure out new ways to keep our businesses and economy active.
Keep in mind that safety inside a
restaurant or any other commercial establishment, goes further than just using
a face mask, that’s why we have listed some of the must do’s and don’ts that
will help you keep your employees and customers safe.
Keep it clean
Adopting rigorous cleaning procedures
for customers and employees before entering your business is something you must
get used to, even if it represents a bit of extra effort. In a long term, this
will lower the risk of spreading the virus in closed spaces where your
employees will interact with customers.
Remember that both the World Health
Organization (WHO), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
have promoted recommendations for how cleaning should be done in these places.
Cleaning supplies such as hand sanitizers and a variety of surface
disinfectants should be permanent items available on your behalf. Face masks
and latex gloves would also be required.
Try to limit the entrance of
customers to avoid overcrowding inside your business or any closed space.
Don’t get too close
Even if we used to consider personal
space as a variant between people we know and strangers, the rule has now
changed too. We must keep a safe distance when it comes to interacting with
people in public places, especially when our employees have direct access to
assist your customers.
When re-opening your business to the
public, try to set some basic ground rules. Stablish an average distance in
workspaces for your employees and at least six feet to separate your customers
when walking a line, or when setting up tables in your restaurant.
Be ready
There are some things we cannot
avoid, even if we accomplish all the planning, training, and practice related
to new prevention practices, there is still a possibility to get the virus, and
for that we have to be ready and informed. As head of your own business, it
will be your duty to keep the safety of everybody, including yourself.
COVID-19 affects different people in
different ways. Most of the people who gets infected shows mild to no symptoms
and recovers without hospitalization. Most common symptoms include fever, dry
cough and tiredness. According to the WHO People with mild symptoms with no
underlying conditions should manage their symptoms at home. In average, an
infected person will take 3-5 days to show symptoms and they can last up to 14
days.
We recommend getting a thermometer to
get your employees’ temperature checked daily and always be ready to seek
medical assistance if you or any of your employees have serious symptoms.
Always call before visiting your doctor or health facility.
